A Wild Night With Brooks &
Dunn
CINCINNATI -- Necessity may be the mother of
invention, but Brooks & Dunn are the kings of reinvention. At the
Cincinnati stop of their Deuces Wild tour on Saturday night (Aug. 13),
they matched the bid of past tours by still relying on special effects
but raised the stakes by making it look easy. In other words, they
offered a rare treat -- a high-tech, low-key night of country music.

All Heart, Small Crowd, Extra Large Fun
Williamson County: With Brooks & Dunn's Deuce's Wild Tour kicked-off
in all it's full-tilt bucking and snorting glory with the chaotic
musical thrust of Big & Rich and the always whatever-happens-next Warren
Brothers, Kix Brooks took his music in a whole other direction --
grabbing his guitar and heading to a very special writers night at the
Williamson County Fair.

Twice As Wild
TWICE AS WILD. Brooks & Dunn are gearing up to headline the Deuces Wild
tour that kicks off on Saturday. Ronnie Dunn expects it will be a crazy
time because they have had some great influences when it comes to stage
presence. "From day-one, we've studied groups like Jimmy Buffett, the
Stones, Aerosmith, even Ozzy Osbourne - people like that who've been
able to go out and put on big, successful shows. There are groups out
there that just go out year after year and put on great shows and have
successful tours. And we try to emulate that." The Warren Brothers and
Big & Rich will also hit the road on the Deuces Wild tour that kicks off
this weekend in Dallas and then in Little Rock.

special place in their realm for artists like Merle Haggard and Buck
Owens, as long as behind the scenes pioneers like Dick Clark and Merle

Brooks & Dunn Deals Up A
Whirling Dervish of a Tour
It's Three Pairs of a Kind and The House is
Wild on the Deuce's Wild Tour,
Kicking Off 8/6 in Dallas and Rolling Through 10/30 in West Palm Beach
Nashville: They've had a balloon-blowing goat, an Elvis impersonator,
Toby Keith, Cledus T. Judd and Dwight Yoakam -- among so many other
reality-based tour mates -- in pursuit of higher drama and bigger kicks,
so it's no surprise that this year, Ronnie Dunn and Kix Brooks went for
the slammin'est duos they could get their hands on to raise the stakes
and stake their claim on the jammin'est Saturday night special they've
stood and delivered. Nothing is too crazed, dazed or blowed-up to
disqualify itself from consideration when Brooks & Dunn take the

Brooks & Dunn Rock Cain's Ballroom
Tulsa: The dance floor is spring-loaded and the luminaries of old school
honky tonk have all played there. So when Ronnie Dunn and Kix Brooks
took the stage at the legendary Cain's Ballroom -- quite possibly the
honky tonk equivalent of the Filmore West - it was standing room only,
and an obvious culmination of the hardestcore honkytonkers 14 year
odyssey from journeyman musicians to 4x Entertainers of the Year.

STATUENAPPERS FOUND!
The Brooks & Dunn stolen
ACM duo-of-the-year trophy caper is finally over. And the devilish
statuenappers were Blue County's Aaron Benward and Scott Reeves. They
ended up in a limo in Vegas after the ACM awards show, and they found
the trophies that Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn had left in the car earlier
that night, reports the Tennessean. Aaron and Scott decided to have fun
and they took pictures of the trophies blindfolded and handcuffed and
tried to extort some stuff from Brooks & Dunn. But B&D's manager refused
to give in to any demands.

BROOKS & DUNN ACM AWARDS STILL HOSTAGES
The Tennessean reports that the two ACM Statues, that disappeared when
the duo accidentally left them in their limo during the ACM Awards in
Las Vegas, are still held hostage with ransom demands like trading them
for a tour bus or a mirrored steer head. Their manager refuses saying,
"Some will have to suffer for the good of the majority. If we give in,
no award will be safe. Grammy, CMA, Oscars will all be at risk. We hope
the public understands."

Brooks & Dunn Get CMT Hot -
"Play Something Country" Debuts at CMT June 16 as a Hot Shot Debut
Nashville: Ronnie Dunn and Kix Brooks have never been known for their
subtlety - and there's no concern about the always full-tilt honky
tonkers denting that perception when the clip for "Play Something
Country" makes its World Premiere on CMT tomorrow. Directed by Michael
Salomon and shot in L.A., it not only captures Brooks & Dunn's always
tall-in-the-saddle performance style, but it celebrates unbridled
hardcore cowgirls with an abandon only the longest-running Duo of the
Year seems able to muster.

BROOKS & DUNN TO HOST 39TH ANNUAL CMA AWARDS
Last night backstage at the first CMA Music Festival Coliseum concert,
the CMA announced that Brooks & Dunn will host the 39th Annual CMA
Awards show when it takes the stage at Madison Square Garden in New York
City as the big show moves to the Big Apple for this year.
“It’s great to know we didn’t screw up too bad last year,” says Kix
about their host spot last year.
“Obviously we’re not comedians – but if we learned anything, it is to
stay out of the way and let the great music on the show take care of
itself. When You’ve got ‘Country Music’s Biggest Night’, the music
really does take care of the heavy lifting.”
Ronnie added, “The Big Apple is a well-seasoned pro. As second year
hosts, we’re far from that, but we are honored and excited to go to New
York and humbly host this year’s CMA Awards.”
MEANWHILE, Brooks & Dunn are enjoying the rapid rise of their current
single, “Play Something Country,” with Kix declaring it, “our fastest
rising song ever.”

Kix Surprises Fans At CMA Music Fest
Kix Brooks, of Brooks & Dunn, surprised the crowd in the Exhibit Hall as
he strolled up to the Brooks & Dunn booth. The crowd erupted in cheers
when they realized he was there and quickly formed a line in front of
the booth to get photos and autographs. Rita Burrell from Cumming, Ga.
and Susan Hicks from Stone Mountain, Ga. were quick on the draw and were
among the first in line to meet Brooks.
“I told him I really liked his music and that it was my first time here
and we’re having a blast,” Burrell said. “I think it’s great that the
stars to take time out of their schedules to meet their fans. That
really means a lot.” Brooks stayed.
Kix also introduced a group of the best young bluegrass players from
across the country to the crowd at the Coliseum. Not only did they get
to perform for a stadium of thousands, they got to do it along side
bluegrass legends Ricky Skaggs and Earl Scruggs!

Ferris Bueller Brooks?!
Kix Brooks Receives Distinguished Alumni Honor
from Sewanee Secondary School
Sewanee, TN: At a gala dinner under a tent on the St Andrews-Sewanee
Academy's 550-acre campus, Kix Brooks returned to the site of his
secondary education -- and there was no detention involved! Instead the
high-rolling songwriter/singer/guitar-slinger was returning to the place
where as a young man, he came of age and formed much of the intellectual
curiosity that would inform his quest through the world to receive the
school's first Distinguished Alumni Award.

"It's Getting Better All The Time" Number 1 Party!
Not long after he returned from his honeymoon, Ronnie Bowman sat down
for a songwriting session with Don Cook. When Cook asked how he liked
married life, Bowman replied, "It's getting better all the time." Thus
was born the inspiration and title of Brooks & Dunn's latest hit.
BMI, the performance rights organization, honored Cook and Bowman's
songwriting achievement Wednesday (June 1) with a brunch at its
Nashville headquarters. Among the celebrants were singer-songwriters Kix
Brooks, Scotty Emerick, Larry Cordle and Larry Shell and disc jockey
Keith Bilbrey.

"Play Something Country"
review by Robert K. Oerman
One of the few performance highlights of the ACM telecast was the duo’s
introduction of this super honky-tonker. Easily one of the best songs
they’ve ever cut, it manages to name-check both Patsy Cline and P. Diddy,
have a wolf-howl yodel, rock with a stuttering guitar and have a line
like “your truck or mine.” Ya gotta love it. And how cool is it that
this year’s “Deuces Wild” tour is an all-duo bill that pairs Brooks &
Dunn with Big & Rich and The Warren Brothers?
