Brooks & Dunn Putting the Finishing Touches on Their Red Dirt Road

Brooks & Dunn Putting the Finishing Touches on Their Red Dirt Road They may be stripping it back for their Red Dirt Road Tour, and putting their focus on the songs that've made them country music's most consistently exciting franchise, but don't think the zebra's gonna change it's stripes too much! Look for the B&D stage set -- designed by Mike Swinford, who's done just about every act imaginable and a ton of work for the NBA as well -- the stage is a topsy turvy glut of highway signs and license plates from all over the country that can best be described as "rustic."

"That's the thing about America," says Ronnie Dunn, of the seek-and-destroy vocal chords, "we're so much a culture of getting in the car and just rolling. The whole world can just pass by your windshield -- and you feel so free. This tour is dedicated to that idea -- the idea that you can just roll down the windows, feel the road beneath your wheels and find freedom on your radio." Having been a pivotal stop on the way to stardom for Tony Keith, Montgomery Gentry, Rascal Flatts, Chris Cagle, Gary Allen, keith urban and the like -- the 26-million selling duo have tapped Horizon Award winner Joe Nichols and brand new gold certified Josh Turner to join them for this trek. As Brooks says, "We love the idea of turning our fans onto new music, showing them something they might not see otherwise… and we've found some stuff they've really liked, which is like turning a friend onto a really cool record. "And this tour's gonna still about the big show, the having fun… but we're gonna reel it in a little bit. I mean, when you're starting with 28 foot high blow-up dolls, it's not that much a sacrifice! It's also gonna really be about honing in on all the songs we've been fortunate enough to have over the last 10 years. When you've been lucky enough to have that, celebrate it! And we are. We're gonna celebrate it all the way across the country -- to all those places we've not been able to take the Neon Circus due to size constraints. 'cause we miss you guys!" Brooks & Dunn's Red Dirt Road Tour kicks off Feb. 12 in Allentown. And the Grammy-nominees for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group for "Red Dirt Road" watch as "You Can't Take The Honky Tonk Out of the Girl" buzzes around the top of the Country Singles chart.
