Kix Comes In 2nd At Colonial Pro-Am
No, it wasn't a case of who could rid the mechanical longer out on
the Neon Circus & Wild West Show. But Kix Brooks -- up for 5 Academy of
Country Music Awards -- did manage to help his Colonial Pro-Am Team,
anchored by host PGA legend Hal Sutton, finish second at the annual
event in Fort Worth.
"And to think 20 UNDER par wasn't enough to bring it home." says the
dervish honky tonker of his daily round with a satisfied
faux-regret-riddled laugh. "We eagled all the Par 5s. and I even had a
real sweet up and down from 200 yards out: hit my 5 wood right up there,
then sunk the putt for one of 'em.
"It was awesome -- just like you play in your dreams, you know!"
Brooks, always one to get out on the links when the boys are on tour,
was clearly delighted to be part of his friend's tournament. "Any time
we can give back, I'm always happy to," Brooks explains. "But to be able
to play golf with Hal Sutton to DO it, well, there you go - that's how
you know life is good!"
