Brooks & Dunn Get CMT Hot -
"Play Something Country" Debuts at CMT June 16 as a Hot Shot Debut

Nashville: Ronnie Dunn and Kix Brooks have never been known for their subtlety - and there's no concern about the always full-tilt honky tonkers denting that perception when the clip for "Play Something Country" makes its World Premiere on CMT tomorrow. Directed by Michael Salomon and shot in L.A., it not only captures Brooks & Dunn's always tall-in-the-saddle performance style, but it celebrates unbridled hardcore cowgirls with an abandon only the longest-running Duo of the Year seems able to muster.

"So, there are girls in chaps and Daisy Dukes," says vocal flamethrower Ronnie Dunn with a wry grin. "What's sooooooo wrong with that? I mean, there's nothing like seeing a girl who knows what she wants who has set out to get it. The woman in this song is all about her country music - and she's not gonna be suffering P. Diddy lightly. Nope, she's all about Kenny, Keith, Alan and Patsy Cline, as the song says, and she's a certified, bona fide George Strait junkie. so I'd say she's our kinda people."

"And she looks pretty good up on that turntable giving the dee jay what for, too," adds Kix Brooks, the guitar-slinging dervish in the pulled-low Stetson with a laugh. "I mean, that lady is. IN CHARGE. She knows what she wants - and she's not afraid to let you know, which is the cool thing about our women fans. They know what they want, and they're gonna get it."

Written by Ronnie Dunn and frequent collaborator Terry McBride, "Play Something Country" is a late night rallying cry for honky tonks, juke joints and any other establishment that is about kicking it back, laying low, shooting out the lights and having a great big Saturday night time of it ANY day of the week. Already scorching the charts, "Play Something Country" is the fastest-moving single of the 3-time Entertainers of the Year's career - outpacing the blistering "Ain't Nothing About You," the lead single from Steers & Stripes, and the much-vaunted Grammy-winning "My Maria."

"There's something going on with this song, big time," says Brooks with that jumbotron smile. "Absolutely. I think people know Ron swung low and knocked on back in the center of the groove. I mean, you listen to the way this thing corners, then get into this lyric. It's a pretty four-square big ole country music battle hymn. This girl wants to stand up and be counted, and I'd say every boy in just about any bar is gonna be willing to let her use his fingers to do it."

The men of Brooks & Dunn are gearing up for a great big festival weekend. Catch them live, large and out of control June 22 at Country USA in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, June 24 at the Greeley Independence Stampede in Greeley, Colorado and June 25 at Country Jam USA in Grand Junction, Colorado.
