Brooks & Dunn Have TWO Good Mornings with America The Rowdy Duo Wake-Up "GMA" Thursday; They Return for Labor Day 9/5

New York/Nashville: When Ronnie Dunn and Kix Brooks joined the rest of the country watching the devastation from Hurricane Katrina, while waiting to perform at their already scheduled, but ultimately pre-empted "Good Morning America" Summer Concert Series appearance in Bryant Park, they were good with whatever happened in terms of getting their performance on the air. For Brooks, who was born and raised in Louisiana, seeing the images was a serious reminder of nature's power.

"You see those images and you don't even know what to think," says guitarist/songwriter Kix Brooks, "beyond the idea that it's so far beyond anything we've ever experienced. I mean, I've been to some of those places you're seeing right now -- or places just like them -- and it hits home. At a time like that, the last thing you're worried about is your close-up, I can tell you that."

Things have a way of working out for good guys, especially ones with the track record Brooks & Dunn have been accruing for the past 14 years. With Hillbilly Deluxe arriving in stores this week, the 4-time Entertainers of the Year will appear on ABC's morning wake-up show not once, but twice.

"Yeah, you get two chances to wake up with us," says Ronnie Dunn of the power voice that is all heart, honky tonk and soul-searching. "So, drink plenty of coffee."

In addition to the previously announced appearance on Thursday, Sept. 1, the hard-charging duo will also be part of Monday, Sept 5's Labor Day telecast. Look for the boys to literally "Play Something Country" on one of the broadcasts, and then offer up the deeply personal "Red Dirt Road" on the other.

"Watching everything that's going on in Louisiana and Mississippi, it just takes you aback," says Dunn, quietly. "It's kind of hard to get out there and have fun, when you see what's going on. And the hardest thing is knowing what to do for all those people -- because it is so overwhelming. They say the basics. food, water, clothing. and that the Red Cross is the best place to start. That's what we were thinking about when we were up there 'cause we've played all those places, know how wonderful those people are -- and are thinking about them even now."

Having seen "Only In America" head into #1 the week after September 11 as a unifying moment of national dignity in the wake of something horrific Brooks & Dunn have a way of being out there with their heads held high in times of cataclysm and disaster. They don't purport to have any answers, but Ronnie Dunn and Kix Brooks are all about bringing whatever they've got when it's needed -- and in this case, it might be as simple as a little adrenalin and a reason to sing-along.

Look for the boys tomorrow and Monday, Sept 5 on "Good Morning America," as well as in People for the second consecutive week - and everywhere on the road as the Deuces' Wild Tour brings all kinds of fun and music to the country for the next couple months.
